Mary is adept at providing many different massage techniques: Myofascial Release - Manual massage techniques for stretching the fascia and releasing bonds between fascia, integument, muscles, and bones are mainly applied; with the goal of eliminating pain, increasing range of motion and balancing the body. Trigger Point Therapy - Identifies trigger points, treating them with manual compression and, if all trigger points have been deactivated, elongating the structures affected along their natural range of motion and length. Fascia surrounding muscles is also treated, to elongate and resolve strain patterns. Swedish Massage - Techniques specifically designed to relax muscles by applying pressure to them against deeper muscles and bones, and rubbing in the same direction as the flow of blood returning to the heart. The main purpose of Swedish massage is to increase the oxygen flow in the blood and release toxins from the muscles. Swedish massage shortens recovery time from muscular strain by flushing the tissues of lactic acid, uric acid, and other metabolic wastes. It increases circulation without increasing heart load. It stretches the ligaments and tendons keeping them supple and pliable. It reduces stress, both emotional and physical, and is suggested in a regular program for stress management. Deep Tissue Massage - Focuses on realigning deeper layers of muscles and connective tissue. It is especially helpful for chronically tense and contracted areas such as stiff necks, low back tightness, and sore shoulders. Some of the same strokes are used as classic Swedish Massage, but the movement is slower and the pressure is deeper and concentrated on areas of tension and pain. Performance Enhancement Sports Massage - A form of massage that is typically used before, during, and after athletic events. The purpose of the massage is to prepare the athlete for peak performance, to drain away fatigue, to relieve swelling, to reduce muscle tension, to promote flexibility, and to prevent injuries. Thai Massage - Is a deep, full-body treatment that includes flowing and relaxing yogic-like stretches massage. |
